IMBD On 4 Meter Avon RIB For Round Scotland Challenge 2008
(Scotland) - During the first week of August 2008 Hugo Montgomery Swan, owner of RIB International, and Paul Lemmer are taking a 4 meter Avon RIB around Scotland. They have fitted SKYDEX’s feature product IMBD to this small RIB as they know they will be standing for much of their trip and want to reduce the effects of impacts from the deck. The RIB International team now have IMBD on deck to help cushion the ride. Paul said, “We have already been out on some interesting sea trials on the South Coast of England. We are usually standing when it gets rough so SKYDEX’s IMBD will be a great help under our feet. Deck cushioning is a really good idea and I look forward to testing it around Scotland.” The event is to celebrate 20 years since Michael Alexander and Richard Frere used a 4 meter Avon Searider to undertake this same 500 mile passage. Open to all owners of 4 meter RIBs the challenge provides a unique opportunity to circumnavigate Scotland from Inverness and back to Inverness. The course will take the RIBs down the Great Glen and Loch Ness to Fort William then up to Oban and Tobermory before heading up the Kyle of Lochalsh. Then under the Skye Bridge, up the west coast to Lochinver, on to the Minch and around the notorious headland of Cape Wrath to Scrabster. For the final 100 mile leg back to Inverness the boats will have to pass through the Pentland Firth with some of the world’s most extreme tidal waters. www.ribmagazine.com
